Wetland reference dataset development
Sunstone Tech’s role combines mapping, Geographic Information Systems and field sampling support for wetland reference dataset development in northern Yukon. The dataset is designed to support training and validation for predictive wetland mapping.
Our project scope
- Prepare satellite imagery and spatial layers, standardize coordinate systems, and check data quality and completeness.
- Set up Geographic Information Systems project files and map transects and sampling points to support sampling design.
- Produce overview maps for helicopter navigation and detailed field maps showing flight lines and plot locations.
- Build a geodatabase linking plot locations to field attributes, with metadata and documentation of sampling design and data processing.
- Help field teams troubleshoot equipment and download and secure field records and photographs.
- Assist with data collection at ground and aerial plots.

Drone orthophotos for mining
Sunstone Tech captures high-resolution drone imagery and produces georeferenced orthophotos for mining projects, including work in Yukon’s goldfields. The orthophotos give project teams an overhead view of site features they can use alongside other mapping data.
